Clair Tappaan Lodge is a rustic hostel-style mountain lodge located on top of Donner Pass just one mile from Sugar Bowl. The Donner Summit Shuttle stops at Clair Tappaan Lodge and drops off guests at Sugar Bowl’s Judah Lodge so guests enjoy more skiing and riding and less time in the parking lot. The friendly, casual atmosphere and affordable nightly rates make the Lodge the perfect rustic getaway. A hearty breakfast and dinner are prepared each day by the professional kitchen staff and are served family-style in the Lodge's large dining room. Brown bag lunch provisions are available for guests to take with them each day, and a vegetarian meal option is always available (3 meals are included with the nightly rate). All accommodations are in bunk beds equipped with mattresses (bring your own sleeping bag or bedding) in a variety of room types and sizes. Restroom and shower facilities are shared. The Lodge also offers a hot tub to soak to get those sore muscles ready for another day of skiing. Each day of their stay, guests assist with daily kitchen/lodge chores such as meal preparation and serving, setting tables, or dishwashing. These chores require about one half hour each day.
